  • Wrecked my Truck Saturday - Pics Inside-->>

    Well here it is.

I was coming home from eating out Saturday night around 10 PM. There was rain in the forecast for later that evening but the sky decided to open up a little early that night. I was leaving San Antonio headed for New Braunfels when it started to pour. I slowed it down a little and was cruisin' fine in the left lane. There was a small passenger car about 3-4 car lengths ahead of me when I noticed he just about lost it as his rear end "wiggled" pretty bad. He immediately moved over into the right adjacent lane.

.....I continued in the left lane....... That turned out to be a bad idea!

Seconds later I must have hit at least a 4-5 inch (maybe deeper?) area of standing water in my lane. My steering wheel was pulled out my hands very abruptly and I was looking at the center concrete barrier before I could even process what had just happened. So I just let off the gas and held on for the ride. Regaining control was no longer an option. I tapped the wall with the front-right part of my front bumper and around I went. The right-rear part of the bed slammed into the wall and around I went again, twice this time!

Luckily I never bounced back out into traffic and no one ,including myself, was injured.

    Here is the aftermath:

Yeah it's looking like a total. The right frame-rail is tweaked pretty good!

I almost have this bad boy paid off and I was looking at getting a newer Chevy Z71 or a GMC 4x4 for a stronger tow vehicle for my cars. So if they want to write me a check for the average retail less my deductible, I wouldn't complain.

That really sucks Kevin....thankfully you're OK. Hopefully, the insurance will handle this professionally and you can be on your way.

Ouch dude, that sucks bigtime. I feel for ya on that. Just as a suggestion, on the next pickup, try a good set of all terrain tires. I've run BFG AT T/As on my Jeep and they are awesome in the rain. Just some advice man. Good luck with the insurance and lemme know what happens man.

The adjuster is supposed to have an estimate (or total) ready first thing tomorrow morning.

As much as that sucks, it pales in comparison to what could have happened. I've heard of to many who have perished from simple car misfortunes these last few weeks. Glad everybody was okay. My wreck happened so quick by the time my 180 degree spin had halted, I still was still trying to process what the he*l had happened.

Talked to my insurance adjuster today and he said there was significant, ir-repairable frame damage.

Well he is suppposed to make me an offer on the value of the truck in a few days so we will see. If he offers me somewhere in the neighborhood of the average retail less my deductible (which is the norm, not to mention I kept that truck spotless), I will come out ahead a few grand.

I've had my eye on a few trucks the last couple of days.

                            I'll keep y'all posted!
