You will need some sort of adapter that will turn a set of your speaker wires into RCA's. It is a small little box that has RCA plugs on one side and spaces to plug in the speaker wire on the other side. There are(to my knowledge) no RCA's out of the stock head unit.

Its called a FM modulator they run about 40 for a good one but you can get them cheaper, but then they are not all that great. remember you get what you pay for.

I installed a stealthbox in my car. I tapped into the rear speakers(by the rear passenger seats) and ran RCA back to the hatch where my amp was.

I stealthbox is good. I have a JL Audio 10W3 in there right now it sounds niceeeeee.

what amp are you planning on using to power the sub? whatever amp you pick, make sure it accepts high level inputs (Do the RCA adapters change the signal? I don't think they do)... Most amps should though, but its still something you might wanna watch out for.

u should just invest in a new HU..the sound change will be night and day from ur high level inputs to 4v pre outs(RCAs) the bass will be 1 louder but most of all cleaner

im kinda into stereos my geo hits right about 157db on a good day =)

Im using the JL box also but im not using the jl sub im using an Alpine Type R 10 with an Alpine M350 amp 1 farad power cap and a Alpine CDA-9815 headunit. the system sounds so bad A$$ i plan on replacing all the components and the coaxial speakers with Alpine Type R speakers with in the next month. But im not sure what im going to do about the 4" speaker and 1.5" tweeter that is in the hatch area. I thinking about cutting it out an installing a Alpine Type R 6x9. But im not sure yet dont know if they make replacement speakers for those sizes. I also ordered an amp rack from subthump.com that goes in the trunk and does not get in the way of the T-top storage.

they do make 4" and 1.5" tweets ur buy what is called a component set..consists of anything from 1 6.5 and 1" tweet or 3 speakers..just look around. id reccomend the audiobahn comps they are great for the money

also u know u dont really need that capacitor right?

The Stock Bose and Monsoon Systems are not easily compatible with aftermarket components and IMHO sound terrible compared to a decent aftermarket set up. If you do just want to add a sub to the stock system get a Line Out Converter. They are a vailable at anyplace that sells audio stuff (even Walmart has them now) You can tap into speaker level outputs and it converts them to line level RCA outputs( I did this on my Formula so I( could run an amp off the stock head unit). They are usually less than $20. If you are gonna replace speakers and headunit you're best bet is to scrap the whole stock stereo. Speakers are wierd OHM (2 OHM I think) And won't work well, if at all, with an aftermarket deck. For the same reason you can't really just replace the speakers as they will not recieve the correct power from the stock amps(most aftermarket coaxial and components are 4 OHM)I plan on running a 6.5" Polk component set in the front ran off an MTX Blue Thunder 1502. Rear pillar will be 6.5" mids run off of the deck. For a Sub I will be running a Elemental Designs K series 12 in a ported "milhouse" type box powered by a JBL BP 600.1 mono sub amp. I will rewire all the speakers with 12 or 14 gauge speaker wire since the stock wiring is setup for the monsoon/bose system. If you have any questions let me know, I'll be happy to help out.......Later

the stock speakers will work fine aslong as u bypass the stock amps if the car has any ( i dont own an FB yet working on that)

if u bypass the stock amp u will even notice a big difference in the stock speakers esp if it has like a 6 band EQ ( most 200-250$ amps have nice x-overs built in)

however down the road ud ofcourse want to upgrade the interiors...

Be careful powering the stock speakers with an aftermarket deck. Some of the stock speakers are two ohm and decks are made to power four ohm speakers. It could overload ie.cook, the deck's internal amps to run 2 ohm speakers since this is twice the load it is meant to handle.

I had a BIG problem wireing everything when i took out the Bose deck in my car. The Cd drive went out, so i bought a MEX-5DI... got a great deal on it, so i tried to install it. The deck did not have enough voltage output to turn on the Bose amp (Each of the speakers has their own amp) and suppsoedly there is an amp under the console. So, i had to run the power from the engine to the amp i installed (a little 200W i had laying around) just enough to power the Bose amp, because i didnt have the time to re-wire everything. Currently I only have the fronts going and over the summer im going to pull out the Bose amp and all the Bose speakers. If you have the Bose system, the swap is ALL OR NOTHING! Be ready for Alot of running around and hours of trial and error (if you dont do a complete swap)!
