  • Stream linning 97 lt1

Ok i picking up a 1997 lt1 and t56 with the compeat wiring for the car, It runs a obd2 system and i was wondering what can i do to stream line the system ( when can i remove ) its going in to a 1969 chevelle so i dont have to worrie about passing air control.

    1. What can i reamove ( air pump a/c ex...)
    2. What wires can i remove
    3. Can i relocate the power stearing pump ( drivers side )
    4. Any other mods i should think about to clean up the motor or increase hp.

    You can eliminate the following:

    AIR pump and flow detector
    EGR recirculation solenoid and valve
EEC canister purge solenoid and flow detector
    After-cat O2 sensors
VATS (if you don't want the security feature)
    All A/C related functions
    -evap temp
    -refrig pressure
    -A/C request
    -A/C clutch
    -A/C clutch status
    Skip Shift solenoid
    EBTCM interfaces (ABS, TCS)

You will have have the PCM programming altered to eliminate the control functions, trouble code diagnostics and SES light on each of these.

it was a six cyl auto and im doing a retro mod to make it more usefull b/c i want to do long huals with it. Also i want it to turn heads with having the new tech in it. Also when i joined the chevelle club i belong to i told them the car would be like no others and turn there heads. When i told them my plans they laughed at me and said there was no way i could get it to work so i got to prove them wrong ( damn old timers ). All the cars in the club a carb small blocks nothing specile. The fuel injection will allow me to drive the car more

If it was a six banger to begin with the EFI conversion will make it worth more. The EFI conversion shouldnt be too difficult - you can convert it to OBDI and look into some tuner programs like LT1 edit or tunercat- the conversion is very easy and the programmers are inexpensive and easy to use. If you really want to knock the socks off the old timer, drive up with your lap top running and laugh when they get out to turn mixture screws on their carburetors.
