  • F-Body Wave

I was driving behind a Harley on the way to Lake Tahoe this weekend, and i realised all bikers have a wave they do. Also my friend drives a 5.0 mustang, and they all have a thing they do... Do F-body drivers have any kind of signal between f-body drivers?

No, not biker. Harley riders wave to Harley riders. Jap bike riders wave to Jap bike rider. Never shall the two wave to each other (unless the bike looks like a Harley and fools the Harley rider).

When I was driving a Mopar we used to do it all the time. I noticed some Jeep (Wrangler only) drivers do it. It didn't happen very often in the 16 years I drove a Mustang every now and then it did.I have done it a few times in the Z and usually the other person isn't looking at you. I have had it work twice that I remember. One to a white SS and the other to a pewter WS6 TA.. I think one of the problems in the F-body is because of the slope of the windshield it is hard to see inside the other car. I used to flash my lights in the Mustang but GM doesn't put that feature in their cars. I really wish I could fix that.

I have thrown and been the recipient of a friendly wave from time to time. It's rare, but nice to see some comaraderie from time to time.

It's simple, F-body owners just dont do it. Who really knows why? I can tell you all vette owners do, it's a tradition.

I always wave to fellow F-buds.

But like Jeff said, they don't always see it. It is easier on a nice sunny day when I am cruising with the tops off.

I just wave out the window or the t-top.

I try and give waves to fellow f bodies but most of the time, like you guys said, they dont see it or dont wave back. SS owners on the other hand, I get quite a few waves from. They seem to see the hood scoop on each others cars from a mile away and like to give the wave or a nod.

The Harley guys never waved to me on my CBR, but I figured so what. I ride for my own enjoyment not to wave to other people.

This forum is an oasis from the typical f-bod owner. While us folks here may be friendly and conversational, I have found that the average f-bod driver is not as nice. Many of these cars are driven by folks who may actually not give a crap to wave to you.

Look at all the trolls the mods have to constantly kick away. Go read one of the "other" F-body boards... These people are our "fellow enthusiasts".. LOL

I know that this is NOT the case in Northern California. Before age 16, my friends and I always rode around $300 jap enduro bikes and it was always customary to wave at any motorcycle. Packs of Harleys, Rice Rockets, whatever..

Everywhere I go, people wave at me when I'm riding my Ninja. Even Harley's. Must be that Southern Hospitality thing. It gets arduous having to wave at every bike around here. Alot of people in cars wave too. Its kind of funny.

I don't get that many F-body waves but alot of WS6's and SS's try to race me b/c I have a plain hood...

I disagree w/ this also. There were all kinda of bikes goin by and they all waved. Rice rockets, POS's, harley's... but it wasnt really a wave...
Lol, it was more of them just putting their arm out. I guess its easier for them tho... they can steer, break, and gas all w/ their right hand, leaving their left hand free... stick drivers arent as lucky.

Just would be cool if more people had pride enough to just acknowledge fellow f-body / camaro / firebird / TA 's...

Maybe it's just an Atlanta thing. Two friends of mine, brothers, used to own a bike shop here in town. We have joked about the wave before. Funny one of the brothers has probably a dozen bikes both Harleys and Jap bikes. He said when he's on the Harley he wave's at Harleys. When he's on the Jap bike he wave's at Jap bikes. He said and you don't ever wave at the other.

The funny thing about that shop was they sold a lot of leather goods. Their dad was a wholesaler of leather so they could sell it cheaper than any other place in town. Anyway the Harley riders would come in on a weekday buying leather stuff dressed in their suit and ties and looking like CEOs. On weekends they dressed up in their Harley leather and looked like hells angels.

I give alot of people thumbs up and most of the time they return it. Or sometimes they thumbs up me first and i return it. This happens like every couple of days during the summer when our cars are on the road.
