  • G80 RPO code, in fourth gen. Q about possible problem

i have the G80 option rear end in my camaro, and twice it has "sliped" and let only one tire brake loose. the car has 98,XXX miles on it and i am wondering if it is time to replace the diff. any opinons on what i should get? i am thinking along the lines of a ZEXEL HD diff.

    thanks
    Jeff

When it "slipped", was it under heavy load, or light load? Sometimes, under light accel, with the tires in snow or mud, the differential doesn't develop enough force to "lock up".

If it slipped under heavy accel, when the surface was dry, and only left a single strip of rubber, it may need to be rebuilt or replaced.

it was definately under a heavy load and it definately left over 100 feet of one tire fire. where can i get a rebuild kit for it? i also noticed it groans while turning and backing up at the same time

It may be something as simple as needing an oil change. My GN was like that when I bought it. Changed fluid and added the GM limited slip additive and no problems any more. Might be worth a shot....
