  • fuel injector cleaner frequency

How often do you put in some fuel injector cleaner? I see that most bottles of fuel injector cleaner say to use every 3000 miles. However, what about for a car with an entirely new fuel system (everything new minus the lines)? I heard that you don't have to use it until 30,000 on the new system, but that seems way too much. I always fill up using 76, never the cheap gas without detergents.

    Thanks in advance.

Be cautious of certian fuel system cleaners on the market.

There some fuel system cleaners that are so strong they can damage your fuel filter with one bottle of cleaner. If you look at the fine print on some bottles they will even recommend that the fuel filter be replaced after you empty a treated full tank.

Most major petroleum companies place detergents in their pump gas anyway.

Given your new fuel componenets and the above, I would think it would be reasonable to pour in a bottle of cleaner maybe every 10,000.

OK Thanks Kevin. I only have 1k on it now, so I think I'll be good for a while.

I usually use the NOS injector cleaner. Haven't read the labels yet...so hopefully it doesn't say that I need to replace the filter every time.

I remember when my dad tried to fill up at cheap local gas. It turned everything black, made a slightly sticky throttle and turned performance to junk. Luckily, at the time, I didn't have the T/A yet. So I learned his lesson never to fill up on anything except the "good brands" with detergents.

There's a local convience store chain in my area that is basically like 7/11, it's just a local chain with a few hundred stores in the state, if that. The weird thing is, every car I've ever had has run way better, and gotten a lot better gas mileage on their gas. I don't know where they get their gas, but I've had better luck with their gas than I've had with Exxon, Hess, BP, Mobil, etc.... And not just a noticeable difference, but a BIG difference. I love it, and it's usually one of the cheapest too. The closest store is about 5 miles from me, but I'll go out of my way to get it, at least for the TA.
