  • steering rack leak: info ?

Mad Mick is back posting which usually means something went bang .....I haven't logged in for a while, but have been reading the posts, and cruising Atlanta's Interstates!

1/ I have a steering rack fluid leak - is this a big and expensive job to fix and or replace ....any ballpark costs out there ?

2/ Whilst we're at it - I am still wanting to put underdrive pulleys on the T/A ['98 WS6] .....any recommendations ??

3/ Oil - I have been alternating between using Mobil 1 and Castrol Syntec blend ...a buddy told me you cannot go back to regular oil after running full synthetic ...additives incompatible or something ........am i okay with semi synthetic occasionally or not ?

    Cheers
    Mad Mick!

A remanufactured rack assembly runs around $130 for LT-1 cars, I don't know if the same part goes for an LS1, but they should be at least the same pricing. The swap is simple.

You can switch oils whetever you feel like it.
