Ok this is the situation. Me and my buddy are at University of Iowa and we are from Chicago. Heres the problem we got a flat tire on the way here and I changed it at the I80 truck stop and we left but we later figured out that we forgot the lug nut key at the truck stop. So does anybody know how to take off the locking lug without the key. We have been to 4 or 5 autoplaces and they couldnt help us. We even drove all the way back to the truck stop to look for it and there was no luck. So I decided to post here. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. We have to be back on the road by 1130am tomorrow cuz i have to go to back to a highschool prom. Thanks Tom

When I worked at a salvage yard we would hammer a socket (slightly smaller socket than lug)on to the locking lug ruins the socket and locking lug that was 20 odd years ago and I dont know how that will work on newer wheels and lugs. hopefully someone has a better option. on some we could use a screw driver in the grooves of the lock.1997 Trans AM WS6 vert

When I bought my car, the dealer gave me a card with the lugnut information on it. Maybe a dealer can get the information from your vin to get the tool you need, otherwise if you had the car since new, then you might want to search thru all the original papers that came with the car. If it is an aftermarket lug nut, then you have to wreck it off with one of those stripped nut removers that you can buy at Sears. If you run out of options, you might want to call around to some tire stores and see if they have any way to do it.

Just throwing it out there, if all comes to worse. You might try an air-jack-hammer. I have done it in the past in a shop I used to work at. It was not pretty butthe less it came off. Remember this is if you have no other options and you seriously need to get this lug off. It can cause serious harm to the car and you if u don’t do it right. So be careful.

Cold chisel and a hammer. Hold the chisel 45 degrees pointing to the left. Hammer and repeat. This will slightly walk the lug loose.
Or maybe some needle nose vice-grips.
Or you could just wail on it with the chisel until you cut a groove into the nut that you can grab with the vice-grips.
Or cut the nut all the way off.
