Aftermarket Stereo/Speaker Recommendations?

SO the Pontiac Dealership tells me to replace my CD player that is screwing up and speakers that are blown, it would be $1000 for parts and service. That's unless the Monsoon stereo can be Fixed by AC Delco. I'm assuming the worst.

My question is what after market stereo/ speaker/amp system would you buy for about the same money and why.

I really liked my monsoon mainly for the interior decor at night and the speaker system. I appreciate any advice.

How many speakers are blown? As for the head unit, there are plenty used ones for sale on Ebay fairly cheap. Sometimes even with some speakers.

As for the speakers, I had a radio place put it two Orion woofers in instead of the broken delco ones. Work really great

I have a Monsoon head unit from my 97 T/A. It works great the only reason I replaced it with a newer one was because it doesn't control the 12 disk cd changer. Let me know if you're interested.
