I am going to get rid of mine soon (bought a new one)...but the only problem is mine needs to be sanded and painted. I'm getting rid of it because there are several chips here and there, scratches, etc. It is structurally good still. The only problem is that these bumpers are a PITA to sand down completely and repaint (flex primer, paint, clear coat, etc.)

Don't forget, Trans Am & Formula bumpers differ. Putting a Trans Am bumper on a Formula will not look right since the bumper hangs lower. Same goes with a Formula bumper on a Trans Am, it's higher.

I'd never try to sand one down by hand... Just paint on the stripper and wait. The old paint will wipe right off.

Yea, been there. Tried to hand sand the front bumper...you wouldn't believe how many ripples and valleys and bumps showed up.

The only thing about the rear bumper is that it is deeply chipped in some areas, I would think it would be needed to be sanded by hand....as other areas are fine. There's a large gap of the higest spot of good paint, to the lowest spot of chipped/gouged primer. However I never tried the liquid stripper before so I don't know how well it would work in this case
