  • can i fit Z06 rims on an 01' SS

I have a 2001 camaro SS and I need new rims and tires for traction, I have seen the ZR-1 rims but like the Z06 rims a lot more and they are about the same size, but before I buy them I want to make sure they would fit my car. Any one have anything to say?

    the 17x9.5 in the front
    the 18x10.5 in the back
2001 Camaro SS, ATI P1-SC Procharger 7 psi pulley (for now muah ha ha), MAC headers, MAC off road Y-Pipe, MAC "Cat Back", K&N, Richmond Racing 3.73's, Hypertech Power Programmer III custom programmed for Procharger, Subframe Connectors, Z06 rims (17x9.5, 18x10.5) BFG G-Force 315/30/18's. Panasonic In-Dash TV/CD/DVD player, 2 10" Audiobahn Subs in custom box, Audiofonics 800 watt amp. Dyno soon to come (and track times too)

There are a variety of Z06 wheels, including OEM and aftermarket, according to a table from VETTE magazine:

    18 x 10.5" 58mm offset (~8.0" backspace) - OEM and repro
Will require a spacer on rear of a 4th Gen F-Body, or else the inside of the tire can be hard into the inner fender liner.

    18 x 9.5" 61mm offset (~7.6" backspace) repro only
Fits OK, but will be slightly "sunk" into the wheel well. Spacer would help, since in the front the inner edge of the rim will be very close to the steering knuckle.

    17 x 9.5" 54mm offset (~7.33" backspace) - OEM and repro
Will fit just about like a stock WS6/SS wheel

    17 x 8.5" 56mm offset (~6.9" backspace) - repro only
Will fit similar to a stock wheel

Then you need to select a tire for each that will approximate the 25.65" outside diameter of the stock 17" SS 275/40-17 tires.

Not sure how much you will gain.... the 17 x 9.5" wheels are not really any different than what you have already, the 18 x 10.5" wheels while wider, will compromise straight-line traction with the short sidewall height.

What size did you have in mind?
