I've heard that If you race your car a lot or run it like your racing or just plain floor it more that usual you computer will compensate and start making changes that allow the car to run better. Its louder now than when I bought it off a 16 year old girl who drove it like a Honda 2000 miles ago. Does this actually happen or is false, or do you guys even know what I'm talking about??

Yes, ive noticed the same thing... When i first got it, all i would do is romp on it and the more i did it the quicker it got going. Then i got a ticket for speeding (80 in a 70!!) so i slowed down for a while, and when i would hit it, it took longer to get up to speed. The computers do adjust to how you drive (heavy foot vs light foot), but also effects fuel economy.

for most any cars..guess f-bods could be different? the whole the computer adjusting to ur drivig thing is in ur head..if there is something for it to learn then it cant be running right in the first place..unplug the batt let the comp reset then let it "re-learn" that should be all the learning it needs unless u drive into the mountains or something...there was a big discusion about this on an explorer web site i visit

only some cars have the "learning CPU" that learns how you drive your car and makes the motor run to your liking. F-bodies are not of them. Its just getting broken in, and power is getting freed up.my car:
'86 Caprice Classic. Soon to have a 350 crate motor. Shooting for 300rwhp.
the project:
check the www for pics, but a '36 Chevy Master Sedan, MII front end, Jaguar IRS, '93 LT1 powerplant with plans for 350rwhp, and many many other goodies

so some cars can actually gain hp as they adapt to how the car is driven?what cars are like that and how much hp gain is possible, does anyone know?
i mean damn this is like the cheapest performance mod you could do to a carbasically free with the exception of the extra fuel you're paying to feed the car for more hp.

A few of the more luxury cars have these cpus, I don't think they are freeing up any horsepower, they just adapt to your driving style, like shifting at higher rpms, shifting harder, they probably do a few other things, but it's not like they are holding back power from a more cautious driver. They're changing the way that power is used, not giving you more of it.Dave M

Changing the gear timing doesnt make the car have more power.. but it can siginificatly change ur lap times.99 Z Hugger Orange 9/05
