  • Burnout...Could this be a problem

    Hi,
I was doing a burnout at a stoplight and after the hookup my
rearend made a bang noise. This is not the first time. It started
after I installed BMR tubbular LCA's and Sphon Adj. Panhard rod.
Is this a problem. Anyother time the Hawk is fine.

    Thanks,
    Adam H. 2002 T/A Firehawk #536 M6

Ever since I did LCA's, panhard rod, and my torque arm I've heard more noise as well. I've been told its the nature of the beast. All of the stock stuff is rubber ends, and they absorb a lot of rearend noise. When you do poly ends, or spherical like mine, it transmits all that noise to the car body. There is nothing broken on my car yet you still hear noise from the rearend. It's slack in the pinion and general tolerances built into the moving parts, and once they hit, they get transmitted to the car body and to your ear. Get a Spohn or Global West torque arm if you REALLY wanna hear noise

it sounds like all it is is your differential trying to figure out whats going on, as I would assume you dont have a locker? go find a detroit, that could help.

          spohn torque arm

I'm scared driving around with the Spohn T/A
and adj lca's and adj panhard...

I swear that something sounds so freaking loose
underthere.. I'm not sure what is going on..
I'm going to have to get it up in the air.

I wonder if the arm has finally 'broken in'
and moves more freely? It looked like it was
torqued enough since it was moveable by hand,
and it took some force.. so I didn't try to tighten
          the nut down any.

Makes me wonder if any tranny brace bolts are loose.. I'm scared!!

I have Slot Car Racing's solid aluminum adjustable LCA's with spherical rod ends, Slot Car's PHR, and a Global West tracklink. My rearend sounds like it's about to fall out of the car, with all the clunking going on. I even used dynamat, and that helped. According to Global West, it does that if you have too much grease in the torque arm fitting, so all I have to do is squeeze some out. I'll get around to it someday, but I'm scared as to what noise that clunk is covering up so I may leave it alone!
