  • NFB- Are we alone???

Hmm, I found this story while browsing. Through the last decade, I have dismissed UFOs and aliens as xistent. Well, not xistent, just childish notions... I just saw the story and its making me think. Seems to be some solid evidence, and its not amateur stuff. Makes me wonder what would happen to our world in an "Independence Day" type situation... Hopefully other civilizations, if they exist, do not possess the quarrelsome characteristics of our population... if so, we could be in trouble...

Then again, they were probably just flares or missiles or something...

The best part is when they say the armed forces don't perpetrate frauds! haha, that made me laugh. I used to be pretty convinced that at least some UFO sightings were genuine, and I've done alot of research on the topic for papers, but recently I don't know, I've always been torn on the issue. Certainly most sightings can be attributed to natural phenomenon, military testing, airplanes, etc... but there are a few cases that just seem that they can't be anything but.

Sure would like to know though.

Maybe it was me, but for the last decade or so, it seems like sightings have kinda trailed off... Maybe more important issues came about and consumed people's minds, but it just seems like its been a while since there has been a big deal made about it (of course, I'm only 18 and haven't quite been around long enough to really judge it).

Anyway, I'm also quite interested in what further investigation will turn up...

I dont see how we could possibly be alone. Given the vastness of the universe, and the likelyhood of other universes all containing countless galaxies, containing countless suns and countless planets.... There have to be litterally billions of other planets exactly like earth. We can be 100% sure there is life on some of these planets. Now the big question is, Is it intelligent life?

I think it would be.... But until we know for sure we can only speculate. Another question is communication and distance. If there is intelligent life, is it more advanced than we are? Can it travel great distances so meet us? There could be intelligent life in our own galaxy and we wouldnt have a clue.

That image looks very familiar with other incidents at the same location. In a past incident, they were traced back to flares dropped from a plane. It looks similar.

Using the Drake equation http://www.seti-inst.edu/science/drake-bg.html http://www.activemind.com/Mysterious...equation.html, it says we have I think I remember roughly 1,000 civilization in the Milky way galaxy alone.

In the movie "Signs", didn't the aliens first appear in Mexico?

If they do come, I just hope they aren't means aliens, because come on, who likes mean aliens. Maybe their funny furry creatures that have been outta syndication for a while now...

Have ya'll ever heard the Don Henley song "They're not here, they're not coming"? Or something liek that. Anyway, that song pretty much sums up how I feel about this subject. I can't remember enough of the lyrics right now to quote it cause the place I work at has freaking annoying country music playing right now. It's a funny song though.

                          Anxious eyes turned upward
                          Clutching souvenirs
Carrying our highest hopes and our darkest fears
