  • changing opti spark bleh.....

Okay, my opti spark went out in my 94 LT1 Z-28 and I am in the process of changing it as we speak. I am replacing the water pump and the coil while I am at it. My question is this, I see the what looks to be the smog pump just below the coil and I have to remove it in the process anyway. Can I plug the lines from it and leave it off? The engine compartment is so cramped in there and anything I can get rid of would greatly help me, especially since I have a 6al box to go on the car but cannot find a decent place to put it. Anyone have any ideas? Any advice and/or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you don't hook up the air pump it will throw a code.

Also, be sure to change the front cover seals for both the optispark and waterpump drive shaft. If you don't, they will soon leak and you'll have to pull it all apart again.
