  • Exhaust?

What is a popular exhaust? My buddy's 01 SS has the most AWESOME sound. I'd like something similar to that for my 97 z28. If not like that, then meaner. Any good catbacks? Is flowmaster a good sounding muffler on these cars? I just got this car the other day, I'm totally clueless. Thanks.

I'm also new to this whole naturally aspirated thing. It's fun getting your neck broke when you floor it, but the feeling isn't the same I don't know anything about what's good as far as exhaust on an NA.

All the cat back produce about the same power level, give or take a couple of HP. It really depends on how you like the sound of each. Easiest way is to go to a cruise or track and listen to the exhaust note of all the cars. Just about everyone has an aftermarket exhaust, so its pretty easy to get a good idea when there are more cars around.

Myself, I like the SLP two on the left for sound. Doesn't crackle like most and is nice and deep/mellow, but not loud.

Well, you probably aren't going to get your car to sound just like his does, really... since you have different engines. His engine is the LS1 and yours is the LT1...

...but there are definitely plenty of catbacks you can get to make your car sound meaner. The meanest is probably the SLP Loudmouth. A lot of people like Borla, Corsa, B&B Tri-flow... just click on some of the site sponsor links and see what they have for catbacks...

Question for you... who calls a Camaro a "Raro"?

To elaborate, the firing order of the two engines is different. The LT-1 has the traditional firing order and has the deeper rumble. So an exhaust system tuned for an LS1 will sound different when bolted up to an LT-1.

LOL, It's just what I have always called it since my buddy got his. "We takin the raro?" I don't know, I like the sound of it

I want something that sounds good, but not loud. My conquest has a 3" mandrel bent exhaust, straight back, no cats with a dynomax ultraflo muffler. That is too loud. I'll check out those sponsors. Thanks.

You can't compare a turbo to a N/A car. Turbos are pretty good mufflers. They tend to drone off boost, but under boost mellow out.

My favorite as far as sound goes is the SLP 2-on-the-left. Like was said before, nice rumble without being too loud, and it doesn't crackle. I've got a flowmaster on mine now, it was there when I bought it. It's nice, but just not the same.
