The old "RS" (but not Rally Sport) designation returned for the 1989 model year. Looking much like an '85 Z28, the RS was a basically a trim package atop the base sport coupe and was powered by either the V6 or a throttle-body-injected 5.0-liter V8. The 97's are the last year of RS's, both the camaro and camaro RS have the same engine 3.8 liter V6 and are not offered w/ the 5.7 liter V8... and came with the same options. The only difference (in the 93+'s) is the spoiler and ground effects package.
