  • did something stupid then smart

I was going home the other day when I noticed a new Bonneville following me...really closely. Whatever I did, he followed. He really got on my nerves, but I knew he wanted to race. I had 3 of my cousins in my car though...ranging in age from 14-19. So anyways, the guy finally gets around to the other lane, then punches it. I can't take it anymore, so I punch it too I immediately catch up, but as soon as we're at 70-75 mph, we shut it down because of a red light. That was stupid (that was a 35 zone).

The guy continued to follow me, then attempted to pass by flooring it. I didn't give into tempation anymore. For a number of times, he was in the other lane, then punched it...as soon as he sees I don't go, he stops, waits and does it again!!!! I will say it did have a nice blower whine though. So as soon as I got near my neighborhood entrance, I waited until he punched it again, so he got ahead of me, then I turned off so he couldn't follow me anymore. Man, it was soooo tempting to rip him a new one. The guy had no respect, especially considering I had 3 kid passengers in the car! And as soon as I hit my neighborhood, guess who I see pulling out...a cop. Too bad he didn't see that #%$@#.

So my question is, what would you guys have done? How would you resist the tempation? It was extremely hard to resist flooring it especially when all the kids in the car want you to race him!!

kids in the car=no fun. When i have my neices and nephews i don't play. Same when my girlfriend is with me, i might play a little but not like i would if i was by myself. Thats just me. It depends on the environment too, if there are lights and stuff like you stated then its either a commercial or residential, which means too much traffic if you really get on it, and more places for cops to hide.

Ditto.. a no brainer! Just reading some of the threads on this and other websites about accidents and innocent bystanders killed by street racers should make you shudder at the conseqences. hand him a card to meet you at the track where this stuff belongs!

I understand what you guys are saying...in fact, if someone else would have posted that message, I would have been the first one to say "ignore him...it's childish." I just never realized how hard it is to actually do it!!!! I guess it took that first run for me to realize "what am I doing....I could kill someone or my passengers....there could be a cop here..." Maybe since I haven't raced anything (at the strip or street) in 3 years, I got the itch. Whatever the case is, I'm glad nothing went wrong. I just can't understand how some people could do this everyday.

had it been a 35mph limit on a road near my house ( straight for miles and very very open..i probably would have just nailed it to get away from him..even with the cousins in the car they would have gotten a kick out of it..had the pearson still been there at like 80-85 though..i would have shut it down and slowed to 10mph so the idiot would leave

in novemer my sistier was killed because this asshole she was with had no regard for her life and deciced to race some people,he lost control of the car at 120 and slamed into a pole
(estamated by high way patrol) going at least 110-115 mph...and this was on a busy street no less.

if your going to do it
                do it alone
late at night when no one is around
if you want to take your life into your hands(and or feet) because if you hurt or kill someone you are a murderer there are no acidents at 100mph on a 30 mph road

Ahhh the temptation! You did the right thing - but man is it hard to resist putting those guys in their place. Did he really think he had a chance anyway? I am doing what you need to do - head to the track. I need to get it out of my system in a controlled and safe environment!
