  • HELP! How do I remove connector????

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to remove the electrical connector on the EGR valve assembly...

    Picture attached of the beast...

Well, you first got to remove the keeper which is that plastic thingy on a srtap. That keeps it from ever rattling loose. Get that out first then you still might need to push a tab back, but it will be doable.

I figured it out... it's a Homer Simpson "DUH!" moment... just reach around to the right hand side of it and you can "push in" on the tab and release it.

Having said that, I replaced my EGR valve (it needed it, didn't feel like fooling with it to clean it) and I noticed that the part that the valve itself sits on (the u-looking thing) was CAKED with carbon deposits.

Any ideas on how to clean that out without getting carbon into the engine itself?

Use a shop vac while you dislodge any particles that might go into the engine.

What is the best way to loosen that stuff up? I could go at it with a stiff wire, but that would take a long time I fear -- it's pretty hard stuff.
