That is what we need more of. That article hit the nail on the head in my opinion.

Yep, this pretty much mirrors most of my conclusions in my undergrad thesis. There will never be peace in this region, and those who think so are pretty much fooling themselves. History paints a grim picture of this culture, and it will continue to explode. It is disheartening when good intentioned people think that other cultures think, feel, and hold the same values as ourselves...therefore there can always be peace. Well, reality (history) says otherwise...what wars are made of... The people themselves are not bad or wrong or less, but the older then dirt culture going back to their warring caravan days will continue to fight with each other and the rest of the world for power and control both geographically and spiritually. The spiritual culture fights tooth and nail to prevent modernization of ideas that says this type of imperialism is wrong. In a day where imperialism is gone, they are faced with accepting a reality that is a complete deviation from their historic culture. Many of the Islamic people are peaceful, but there are sects who will never accept the new free global world...it is those who will continue to push and prod and attack innocents in their futile quest to actualize the dreams of old. Anyhow, we as a country need to end the dependance on their energy, or this conflict will plague us for many many many years.

The only thing I am hearing is President Bush took us to War for nothing just because he wanted to, but I, however, don't see it that way.

The middle east muslims started it by killing 5,000 or more innocent people who had done nothing to them, but yet becuase of their hate and devilish ways they still had to hurt our people.

I think instead of rebuilding their country we should just wipe it off the face of the earth and let them feel what is is like to have families torn apart with no where to turn too.

I guess I'll just shut up before someone gets mad at me!

            Complete Truth.

This is the kind of stuff that should wake everybody up and make them think about the larger picture. It should make you start asking questions.

There will never be peace as long as one culture passes judgement on another's right to exist. People can't understand that they don't own the land, it is not their posession. We are all merely temporary tennants who should be more concerned with keeping house than bickering over who has ownership.

Reminds me of a book called "The mouse that roared". It depicts how 3rd world countries pick a fight with an overwhelming force, knowing full well of their impending defeat. The result is the overwhelming force destroys the lessor nation, then spends billions rebuilding the country. In the end, the lessor country still hates the victor and again in the future will do it's best to undermine the very country that they picked a hopeless fight with, who took the trouble of putting it back in a better shape than when it started and continues be tolerant of war driven cultures.

We need to eliminate the dependance on Middle East oil, and forget rebuilding them. I am still fuming over the 90s executive decisions in Alaska. If we could send the enviros and the oil & gas/auto industry packing, we could build a good energy policy that is practical, incremental, and non-threatening to the economy.
