  • Fuel injector cut out

    hey i am swaping a 97 z28 lt1 engine into a truck and i am cutting out all of the computers except for the powertrain control module. now i have everything hooked up and it runs but it cuts out after a few seconds. i traced down the problem to the fuel injectors cutting out. and the wire that enables them is a blue wire that GM calls it the "theft deturant fuel enable wire". i was wondering if anyone knew if i could get the computer erased of that system or anyway i can bypass it so i can have the engine running. i am really in a jam so if anyone knows anything could they help me out. thanks alot Alan

      Are you sure its the Passkey system? That would prevent it from starting altogether. There is also a requirement that the low resolution pulse from the Optispark distributor be present. If it is lost, PCM cuts the fuel system. That would set a diagnostic code. Have you scanned it?

        That's what I was thinking. There must be a loss elsewhere if it starts initially.

          i was able to get the engine running for more than a few seconds when i connecter that wire to ground then took it off and did it a couple of times. so i think it is looking for some kind of signal. once i do that it seems fine but i would like to get it fixed the right way if you know what i mean

            You need a bypass module like this to simulate the signal from the VATS to the PCM. I am sure there are many places to get one. I just used that link because someone on another forum bought that one and fixed his problem. It is basically designed for engine swap situations where there is no VATS module present.
