Any one out ther have headers on their 3rd gen.?

I got all these parts in the mail for my 82 z28 and everything was right except the headers. suposedly they would bolt righ up to the stock exhaust....but no. the collecters stuck down too far and wouldn't fit.
*These were black Jack headers with no emissions ports.*

what brand did you use?
did you have to alter the rest of your exhaust?

I had an 88 TPI that I put a set of Hooker headers on. I had to have a custom y-pipe made. I remember paying about 150 for the y-pipe, installed.

I don't have headers on my 3rd gen, yet , but when I get some they are going to be the Hooker Super Comps (2055's). They are only listed for 85-90, but I know they work up to 92 and I bet they will work on your 82. They have a really good y-pipe and have a 3" collector. A lot of people with 3rd gens (at least on Thirdgen.org) seem to really like the headers. As far as installation, I don't think anyone has had any major problems with installing them. They do come with the AIR pipes on them, though.
