I've been seeing a lot of stuff about the mach 1 being really fast, but if i remember correctly they run 14.0 or 14.1. thats pretty quick but there are lt1's taking that race. If i'm wrong then let me know but that's what I thought.

You are asking for the LT1/LS1 lecture from the LT1 boys.......Originally posted by Supernova
Most Mach1s dyno around 270 rwhp. In the hands of a capable driver they should be good for mid to low 13s stock. They've got 3.55 gears which helps them get out of the hole quickly. They should be faster than a stock LT1, but the LS1 is another story.
anyway... he is right, the Mach 1 is faster than 14s...Former Ride: 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 - 345 rwhp, 360 rwtq... stock internally.

you know, i hate it when people compare the lt-1 with the ls-1 when it comes to speed. The LT-1 motor is, by no stretch of the imagination a slouch. In fact the LT-1 is very comparable to the LS-1 in terms of stock to stock speed. The LT-1 is beastly at any speed under 100. The LS-1 only gets its advantage at top end. The mach one however is a pretty strong vehicle. My buddy has a mach 1 with an off road x-pipe and the loudmouth(thing sounds like an airplane landing next to you when he gets on it) and i ran him from a roll and he pulled a fender on me so i think they may be a little underated.
Sorry officer, im not speeding... Im qualifying
Daily Driver:1990 ford probe 5 speed with like 13 horsepower at the crank.

my friends 2004 mach 1 ran a 14.088 at 100 mph up at Acton, Montana. He has a K&N filter and a cat-back for performance mods. The first day he got it with only 30 miles on it, he raced me and kicked my butt by like 5 car lengths. After i put my K&N FIPK II system on... I beat him 1 out of 4 times
and the other 3 races were within a car length of each other. I made him feel like crap because he came to realize that he spent over 3 times as much on his car and I'm still running with him. When he asked me how, I just say because chevy is better than ford
. Oh yea i also did a throttle-body bypass while i was putting the cold air in.

All the stock mach ones I see around DE are in the low 14's maybe high high 13's. But i guess it all depends on the driver and conditions. The fords motor also gets it done with alot less displacement. Ive heard difffernt things regarding the lt1 and the ls1. I hade a 97 ws6 and a 96 ws6 6sp's and they both ran high to mid 13's with a muffler and k/n. My buddy had a 99 ws6 6sp with a k/n, borla and i think that was it and I ran a 13.01 in it so I think the ls1 is a little stronger but then again its a lot newer too. I love both of them. An LS1 can take a n LT1 on any givin day but dont count it out it wont walk it. It aint no muskrat. Unless the driver sucks.

97 ws6 6sp 40k miles 355 cubes strange s 60 rear 373 gears. other stuff! 360rwhp

Not quite so fast....... it is very common for LT1s to be ahead during a quarter mile run. Even when mine was more stock, I never lost to an LS1 in the quarter mile. There are a few exceptions out there, but you cannot simply make a blanket statement like "LS1s can take an LT1 on any giving day". Now that mine is modded, only an equally modded LS1 has a chance. Each motor has a certain percentage of dogs and a certain percentage of factory freaks that run really quick. Don't count anything out.Originally posted by thomas

Are you still running 13.2 in it, Joe? Ya know... cuz I did run 13.3 stock with my LS1. Sounds like I would "have a chance" to me.Originally posted by Joe 1320

And despite what you have said, I see more and more LS1 owners reporting mid to low -- not mid to high -- 13s bone stock with their cars. I see WAY more claiming 13.5-13.2 than I see 13.8-13.6. And I see the same thing at the track when I go.Former Ride: 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 - 345 rwhp, 360 rwtq... stock internally.

Nope..... that was still with 3.23s and no headers and random tech dual cat Y.Originally posted by Jay 02 TA ws6

I was down to 13.05s with the gears, and haven't ran it with the headers and Y at the strip. I do have a nice deserted stretch of road that I use for my private dragstrip for testing, and it seems I picked up another 2 mph, so it should be good for roughly 12.8 @ 107. I have exactly a 1/4 mile marked off and the speeds are darned consistant with what I got at the strip. Based on that, I would get there first, but the typical LS1 would be gaining ground. Good thing for me it's only 1320 ft.
As fas as the LS1 times go, I would invite you to take a trip down here to see for yourself. This heavy and humid air doesn't do well for times. Winter time is a blessing, summer is terrible. Most stock LS1s are in the mid 13s with a few in the highs, a few in the lows. The stock automatics seem to be easy pickings, it's the 6 speeds that I would worry about after 100 mph.
I also don't pay much attention to what people claim.... I pay attention to what I see.
There are a few quick ones out there...... not as many as what people may want to see. Now when the mods come, all bets are off.
All I'm saying is that so many people report these wicked times and they just never seem to materialize unless they are modded. I will say LS1s do wake up with minor bolt ons.

That's another thing I was just thinking about... even in the dead of summer, there are still a few 60 degree evenings in Michigan great for some 1/4 mile actionOriginally posted by Joe 1320

Just for the fun of it, I would like to see a dragstrip stay open in the middle of January in Michigan, lol... Jeep Cherokees would be taking top honors, lol...Former Ride: 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 - 345 rwhp, 360 rwtq... stock internally.
