Anyone have either? Which would be better?

    PCM vs CHIP

Lookin for something quick / easy / cheap for some power gain. Or i could just put the money into an exaust, i was thinking headers but if i do that i want to do the whole exaust all at once.

I have never seen the venom thing......theres no way youre gonna get 25% more power on a stock car. That would be close to 75 HP from a tuning device. THe chip only works on the 93 LT1 and I wouldnt bother with hypertech. The rest of the years had to have the PCM flashed. Look into Ed Wright at fastchip.com or Ion at MadZ28.com.

I have had experience with Ed Wright - pricey but good. I just got a tune from Ion and I have not gotten the car running properly on it yet. It probably has nothing to do with his program though. So, I cant speak for his quality, but the price is right.

I wouldn't bother with an off-the shelf chip or reprogrammer. Wait until you have more mods done, then have a custom program burned for you. You'll see much more bang for your buck that way.

sounds like a good idea... thanks. What would be a good first mod then? Im getting mixed signals: suspension vs power. I think the suspension will be fine for awhile..

its a 93 camaro Z28, would eventually like to make it an LT4.

Suspesnion is always a good place to start modding, IMHO. But most people are anxious to get into the power mods, and I can't blame them. A good order of mods is te following:

1: cold air intake and cat-back exhaust.
          2: rear gears
3: shift kit, torque converter, and tranny cooler, if A4. High performance clutch and shifter if M6.
4: suspension (lower contol arms, panhard rod, strut tower brace, subframe connectors, poly bushings all around) or something like SLP's level 1 suspension kit. I'd also do 17" rims if you still have the stock 16's. As much for looks as for performance, IMHO.
5: Now that you've done the above, you're ready for your big power adders, in your case an LT4 conversion. This is where you'd definately go with a custom programming as well. You can do that anytime and just have it updated after each new mod, but I'd just wait if it were me.
6: Brakes! You need to be able to stop all that power. Something like Baer's 13" system.

There are also, of course, a lot of smaller mods that I didn't mention that get done in there somewhere. But for the bigger mods, this is what I consider the best route. I would have put 1.6 rr's on that list somewhere, but since they're in the LT4 kit, I figured it's be best to wait until the whole conversion gets done.
