  • Radar saved me

Almost got caught in a trap on oakey just east of decatur, 2 bike cops were off in a cove... i was doing 55 in a 35, everyone else was at the same speed, but i was in front of everyone. This is the second trap in 2 weeks that the radar has saved me from. I love my escort 8500.

-- Just wanted to add to the radar debate.

I would vote beneficial on highways and nuisance in town.

I have one of those talking cobras its benefitial to me both highway and town...it has an automute feature that when radar is first detected it beeps then fades to a quiet beep then no beep until the signal is interrupted....i like it alot...we have lots of cops in my town and a speed limit that is retarded 35mph in a zone that should easily be 45mph. everyone does 50 anyway

They're beneficial in town and on the highway, but only to a point. They're only a radar detector, and as such if it goes off, you're bouncing a signal back already. If you're moving too fast, you won't be able to slow down enough and could very easily be nabbed anyway.

I've been saved a few times myself.

Most roads around here you have a straight shot and it picks up the radar before your in range for the cop to pick up your speed if there is cars in front of you. Your right though cops know what traffic is supposed to look like...if your doing something illegal and they see it...it doesn't matter what their radar is showing....

Working with Electronic Warfare for the military I know that detecting such a device can save you and you can get their radar before they are close enough to pinpoint you...

This is a long always on-going debate, I like it! Mine has come in handy many times, especially here on Ft Bragg and Pope AFB. The MP's will stop you for 4 over. Isn't that radiculous? Many roads are 25, many 35 that should be 45. Open roads going around a flight line, come on now, 35 is too slow, especially when I'm late for work!

Driving home from work today i was second at the light on the left of 3 lanes. the guy in the middle was going slow, so i cut in front of the him to get by the guy in the left lane doing the speed limit. I hit the gas a little as i switched lanes, and right before i pushed on it, i saw a poilce officer switch form the middle lane to the right lane. Luckly i saw his light rack before i was actually speeding. Because radar would NOT have saved me then.

OH, AND... I got hit by laser today also- a little before i saw the officer. -- they are slowly switching to laser.

Great thing about this light is not a controlled frequency under the FCC , so laser JAMMERS are perfectly legal but it's only a matter of time until they are illegal everywhere

Radar adn laser are ultimately tools to aid in your peception of you surrroundings .. that we all can agree on

laser detctors only tell you that you have a ticket coming .. thus you need a detector and an active laser jammer

This is technology we've been using in the AF for years now for our jets. Hmm maybe I should apply that knowledge to my car and make it the ultimate in street-electronic-warfare. You'd see me speeding down the streets and then a cop points his radar gun at me and I start despensing chaffs and flares from my hatch. But seriously its the same principal the jets use. Radar detection followed by radar jamming and deception. Lasers too...

I voted beneficial in town and on highway, it can sometimes give false readings but i think its worth it to be saved the tickets and the points. Been saved plenty of times
