    misfiring

    hey guys,

    two days ago, i was driving and noticed that the TA was running sluggish...

    yesterday, she was running like crap (I press the accelator and all I get it crazy shaking and disturbing nosies)...and the SES light came on...

    I bearly got her to the shop and I asked them to scan her fer codes and he said that cylinder 5 is misfiriing...

    I'm willing to bet it's a bad plug or wire...but I changed my plugs and wires a few months ago...no more than 10K on em.

    The NGKs and Taylor wires...could it be someing else?

    check the plug wire heads at the sparkplug...lot of time..they "back off" slightly...and you will get an arc right there. easy to see at night too.

      How about the injector? Needs spark AND fuel to fire. Could be a bad pushrod or rocker. When you installed the plugs, is it possible you cracked an insulator? .... bent a ground electrode? ....loose wire as Ken suggests? .... faulty coil for that cylinder?

        I'll do the cheap fixes first...if that don't solve it, then I'll do the latter...LoL Oh, it was sudden also...like in a few minutes of driving...

          pulled out teh number 5 plug and saw it was fine...pulled the #1 and compared...both look exactly the same...doubled checked the wires...looked brand new...now, what do you guys suggest I do next...

          replace the plugs anyways (can you actually see physical damage to the plugs?)
          or do something else...how can you tell the coil is bad??? Looks like it's gonna be a busy weekend.

            If you have access to the scanner, first switch the #5 injector with one of the others, and see if the misifre follows the injector. If it doesn't then switch the #5 coil with one of the others.... ditto. Then try switching the #5 wire with one of the others, etc.

              Thanks for all teh help guys...I got her running good again...it was the coil so I picked one up for $29..not bad. Problem fixed...
