  • LT1 or LS1?

    how do you tell whether you have an LT1 or LS1? does it have some kind of badge somewhere that says which one it is?

    You have a 2002 Z28?

    You have an LS1.

    LS1 = 1998+
    Former Ride: 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 - 345 rwhp, 360 rwtq... stock internally.

    Current Ride: 2006 Subaru Legacy GT Limited - spec.B #312 of 500

      If you're asking about your engine in particular, in an 02 Z28, you have an LS1. LS1's were in 97-04 corvettes and 98-02 F-bodies. The intake is different on the LS1 (a plastic I believe, versus aluminum), and LS1's have a coil per cylinder versus a single coil for all 8 on the Lt1. Of course there are other major external differences you could use to tell, but that's what I can come up with off the top of my head.

        You can tell by the intake manifold too.. The LS1 is black and has a tubular design, while the LT1 is silver and has straight ridged lines.
