Local thief killed by train.

A man was hit and killed by a train in Westlake overnight; and according to Calcasieu deputies, the man was being chased at the time.

Clarence Lee Moss II allegedly broke into some cars at the Isle of Capri; and when Westlake police tried to apprehend the 44-year-old, he got away and ended up running onto the railroad tracks going into Westlake. The CPSO says a train came through and moss was killed on impact around 3 a.m.

OK this is what I don't understand, how the hell do you just run into a train? The trains in this area of town go pretty slow cause their is a busy five lane they have to cross about a 1/3 mile away form where this happened. And in the other direction their is a rail bridge over water which requires trains to slow down. So this train was going say 35-40 mph, with lights on, and horn blowing and this guy still got hit.

the same way thousands of people get hit every year at crossings with flasjing lights, gates, horns, and bells.... stupidity.
