  • Help W/a Part Number

Front brake rotors for 2001 Camaro.....mine are original as stamped on them "GM" and the number 18041873. However of the parts catalogs i have looked in list this number. Why is that? Did GM re-design the rotor and call it a new number after 2001?

You can't always count on casting numbers to be the same as part numbers.

Except that some part numbers change over time, not really sure. My experience over the years is that most casting numbers are not the part numbers. The numbers that are in the molds for the item are going to be there from initial production. If there are any revisions to the p/n, they are not going to spend any money to change the molds (just a speculation). Sometimes I do see parts that have numbers that are close to the actual p/n and then some that are actually the same.
