    Anybody have this system installed?
    http://www.lmperformance.com/1648/2.html

I'm curious to see how it looks under the hood. I want a ram air setup, I plan on getting a ram air hood as well. Any pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Forgot to mention... I want a cold air intake as well. How would I do it? They don't make a CAI ram air for a 97... Would I just have to buy that conversion kit then buy a 98 and up CAI?

If you go with the ram air setup you don't need a CAI... that's what the ram air is...

Most aftermarket CAI's scoop air from under the fender, the ram air just takes it in from the hood.

you either have a cold air intake or ra air. you can not have bith and ram air is as cold as air gets. i have a sun coast creations hood and airbox and it made a big diffrence. i had a k&n cold air kit before and i noticed the gain big time. the diffrence for me was in the air box. the slp box is just lie the stock and has vents to the air filter. the sun coast version is just a open element that seals to the hood. not tomention it looks way cooler i think

you can cut the baffles out of the o.e. airbox lid.

the sun coast hood has not been dot crash tested, as aftermarket is not required to do that.... most of them do...but suncoast didnt.

how would you like to get in a head on....and have the hood come thru the windshield and remover you noggin?

          uh huh.

the hood you buy will have to match up to the air box install...

one or the other....ram air or cai. ram air is better....works the same as cai and better at speeds.......over the limit....

every place i've seen that carries the Ram Air hoods sell them for several hundred $$$'s by themselves....surely this kit doesn't really include the hood in the package for that price?

                  Thanks for the replies.

02z28, I was assuming that was a typo. They do sell a kit with both the hood and kit but that's about $1200 I believe.

That setup looks good under the hood. I don't think I'd benefit much at first though, seeing as how I won't be getting that hood until the winter, while the car is stored.

sounds like i need to lower my seat back a little more. they did not crash test the suncoast hood? it is still fiberglass so it is going to break up, seems to me like it would crumple eaiers then a metal hood.

                        Ram-Air is just about marketing

i think you are missing the point. "ram air" is not ram air in the sense of a super charger or a turbo charger. you are not going to gain 50 hp from it. on my t/a is was a matter of straightining out the intake path. it no longer gets its air from the front fender and goes up 2 feet then dose a 90 degree turn and go another 2 feet to do another 90 degree turn to get ther air to the throttle body. it goes straight thru the hood thru the airfilter and into the trhotle body. this is where the hp gain is made. if it gets a little boost from the air coming in at 90 mph so be it but it is not where the power is coming from. look at sport bikes. they all said this same s**t when my zx-7r came out in 1996. Now you will not find a bike with out it. once agian it is about straightining out the intake path. less restrection = more flow and every turn slows the air down. imo

A CAI is about 90% as effective as Ram Air, gets the air from a cleaner source, is cheaper and easier to install.

                            Just my $.02.
