  • distilled water?

What is distilled water and what makes it different than filling up a Brita filter with tap water and filtering it? I'am going to flush my radiator and was going to use filtered water (via Brita filter). Would this be the same as distilled water?

    Thanks

I think the filtered water would be just fine......I always use the garden hose and have never had a problem

Distilled water is pure H2O. It has no other minerals, so when it evaporates, it has no deposits left over. Filtered water still has minerals in it and can leave deposits, but not as much as tap water. How much any of it matters might depend on where you live and the source of your water. Where I live, the well water is 'hard' with lots of iron and other minerals. I use distilled water in all my vehicles. It is about $.70/gal, so it is cheap - only the minor inconvenience of having to go get it.

yeah, if your water is pretty "soft", then it shouldn't hurt to use tap water, or filtered tap water, for filling up the radiator.

on the other hand, if you're looking for water to fill up the cells in your battery, that's another matter entirely....distilled water all the way in that case....
