  • p1416 code, HELP!

Hey guys, I'm hoping someone can help me out here, my ses light came on last night and I had auto zone scan it the code is p1416, after some research I've learned that you should change the check valve, is this right and how do I go about doing that. I hope I can do this myself any help would be appreciated.

P0416 - Secondary Air Injection Switching Valve B Circuit Open

Some scanners use a "1" in place of the "0" but the code is still the same.

Fred will need to comment on this one.

Always use Shoebox's code list... F-Body specific:

P1416 Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system Bank 2

Never heard the one about some scanners putting a "1" in front of things... this is a valid code. GM uses all four digits in the OBD-II code sequence.

Could be a lack of flow on the passenger side when the pump is running, or a backflow through the check valve when the AIR pump is shut off. The check valves on my Silverado with the "LS1-derived" engine are out in the open, should be easy to check and change.

You might want to take the hose off that supplies air to the passenger side check valve. Start the engine, and air should blow out of the hose. While the line is off, check the check valve for hot exhaust gasses escaping. That should narrow down the problem.

That may be it, the codes I use are from autotap's website.
