  • Thanks for the keyless entry help!

Hey guys, thanks for the keyless entry problem help. It works great after I cleaned the black gunk off the contacts. they were filthy. Now another to fix, on my to fix list: My power antenna. The motor sounds like it is working but the antenna doesnt move up or down. I just unplugged it for the mean time and kept it up. What is the problem here? Anybody had similar problems? Any help appreciated!

    sounds like

You got to take it apart to see if you can fix it (sounds like the antenna shaft is separated from the motor). Better yet get a replacement.

The antenna shaft is made up of two parts. The metal outer telescoping shafts, and an internal toothed ripcord. The toothed cord is what the motor gear engages, it entends and contracts, pushing and pulling the telescoping metal shafts up and down. As you discovered, the motor is fine, but either the toothed cord is broken or stripped. Pep Boys sells replacement shafts and cords as a set. You'll have to extract the broken cord and shafts, install the new. I can't remember the exact price but less than $25 seems to stick in my head. Hope this helps.
