  • Dash Question about material

I was wondering back in the old days the dash was made out of leather and they cracked and all... But what are the dash on the 4th generation (preferably the 2001 models) made out of... I don't mean the plastic feeling section close to the windshield with the defroster on it, but the area that contains the passenger air bag and goes across the top of the rest of the dash...

And what are some good products to treat this area with... Because it seems as though anything I use it just seem to soak into the dash...
    Thanks

Leather??? When was that? IN the "good ole' days, dashboards were painted steel. In the 60's, they started using vinyl. It's been vinyl ever since. A very few ultra luxury cars use exotics like leather and wood, but our cars use the standard vinyl. Zaino makes a nice vinyl dressing. So does Armor All, Eagle, etc. Any "low gloss" protectant will work well to nourish the dash and keep it looking good. Stick with one that contains a UV blocker. I know Zaino does. Not sure of the others. 3M supposedly makes one containing a good UV block...check around.

      Hay thanks,
I was wondering why it didn't want to shine any more and the product I was using was ArmorAll's Ultra Shine and it does not have any UV blockers in it...

But I want out and brought some Meguiar's NXT generation Tech Protectant, and it is shiny and contains UVA/UVB blockers...

      Thanks...

I hate glare on my dash...I hate a shiny dash all together.

I use Armorall UltraClean...gives it a smooth finish, UV protection...WITH NO GLOSS.
