  • sell or keep?

I'm gettin ready to start school soon, so i need some extra cash...I was gonna sell my camaro. I really like my camaro though, so if i was gonna keep it I was gonna drop in a 350. But i also thought about putting money into the stock motor and try to make a monster out of that. Now if i was gonna sell it, I was gonna get a LT-1 Trans Am afterschool was over with. Just wanted to see what u guys thought.

P.S. cause of school i can't afford insurance

Well for staters i dont have a lift and it's imposible to do most anything without one i hade to take it to a shop to get the plugs and wires changed. 850$dollars latter (225$ wires from dealer 55$ pluges from dealer) they were changed. I had a leaking water pump. so changed it, they say change the optispark with it now mine wont start. also the ABS controler started to leak 780$ just for parts. dont like my Z and its only got 80000 miles on it.

Having had a bunch of cars, I would get your education first. you can always buy another car at a later date. I have had my Formula now for 7 years ith only minor maintenace. I wouldn't hesitate getting another LT1, but the next time I think I would go for a LS1 car in the future.

Good Luck with what ever you decide...

Aren't you going to need a car through school?

I would choose a forth option. Keep the car. Leave it stock. Get your school in. Get a 2007 after you graduate.

You don't need a lift to work on these cars. With 4 jackstands you can do just about everything the home mechanic would ever want to attempt. Dealers, as 1996fboy found out, rape you. Don't be afraid to buy an LT1 because of repair costs. Any used car will need repairs, and an LT1 is no different. Some are worse than others.

You could put a lot of money into your 305 and not get much in return. The LT1 gives you a better starting point, both with the engine and with other things like suspension, interior, etc...

Dropping a 350 into your 91 is a possibility, you could even do an LT1 swap. But you'd still have a 91 in terms of handling, etc. 93-97's are fairly inexpensive now, so I'd just buy the car that has everything you want already in it.

i would keep the camaro in stock form unitl i got out of school. the insurance cant be that much more than any other car that you would be happy driving. theres nothing worse than taking a date out in a car that youd rather not even be driving. i would be willing to work harder and put in a few more hours to keep my car if i were you. i do know its hard in college though i couldnt stop partying myself.

ditto that.. I'd keep the car stock and drive it until you graduate and can afford something better.

While in college (1991-1994) I drove a 1987 Z28. In 1994, just before graduation I went to the dealer and placed an order for a brand new 1995 Z28. It felt great to know I could finally get what I wanted.

Do what you need to do to get by now and reward yourself BIG later.

I'm definatly to graduate befor doing anything to the car, if i do. Otherwise I'll just buy another car. I'm in a pickle cause liability for my car is $300 a month. When i'm in a school i can only work part time, because i'm not that great in school, so i have to concetrate on school very hard...and i'm goin to school full time. I could always do as Jeff said, get that 2007 when i graduate......come to think of it, i'll be graduating around when they come out, summer of 2006 thanx for the input guys
