In case anyone is interested, here's the story:

Apparently too much competition in the import "sports" car market.

Interesting. Although I would never buy one, I always thought the newer Celica was a decent enough car for what it was... Better than a Civic or something like that anyhow.

i work at a toyota dealership and the newest car line Scion is taking over the 2 door sport coupe Its called the tC their is an article in car and driver about it and its starting at 16k whereas the celica was at 19k the tC is definitely more car in terms all around... It has a extra .6 liters of motor too. i'd never buy one personally, but we have like 14 ordered for customers and they haven't even been around for a month.

I always said to my self if I ever buy a dd, it would be a new Celica. I like them, especially the sport edition ones in silver. It comes with a 6-speed. Pretty nice. I told the g/f if she ever gets a new car she should get the new Celica's.

Let's congratulate Toyota on killing every exciting car they had in their lineup under the "Toyota" brand name. Bye-bye Supra, Celica, and MR2. Toyota is now officially the most boring car manufacturer in the world.

...Too bad they are also one of the most profitable... I hope more companies don't follow this lead.
