  • stock hp for lt1

    hey does anyone knows about how much hp a 97 lt1 puts to the wheels. i looked it up and it said about 285 but i dont know if its to the wheels or to the fly wheel. im going to the dyno sunday and i just wanted to know. to see if i am way off or on the right track

    285 at the wheels? I don't know but I doubt it. Flywheel probably for sure, but you're probably going to see about 230-240 on a dyno.

          What kind of tranny? Rear-end? Don't ever go by GM rated f-body HP numbers, they are pretty far off.

          Just a guess, but assuming your headers, catback, and "ghetto rig" CAI are provided you with about 20 more HP, I would venture to say you could probably expect roughly around 270-275 RWHP with a M6 and roughly around 260-265 RWHP through a 4L60E.

          Maybe more, maybe less. Too many variables with dyno's, operators, and cars to really accurately guess.

              Nope, I'm up in Michigan.

              I forgot to factor in the tranny, like FastTA did. A manual will have more power. You lose a lot of horse with an auto.... I'd guess about 30 hp to the wheels.
