  • How much for a GN?

I saw a 1986 GN today for sale. It had 105K on it and the sign said $8,500 OBO. It had t-tops and a cloth interior with embriodered headrests. The emblems on the side said it was intercooled. The interior looked really minty, but there was rust along the botom rear edge of the trunk lid and a couple little spots on the rocker panels. The exterior was a 6 out of 10, and the interior was a 8 or 9.

It looked completely stock and complete. Is the price fair?

i'm a member of both... currently a my GN i have a '72 Buick Skylark with a mildly built buick 455 in it. weeeee.. a GN is a blast too.. if you decide to purchase, congrats as you'll quickly find it'll outsmart the F-Bodies without much effort or mods ... low 13's stock.. small little things and you're looking at low 12's for less than $1000-1500 :-P

By your description it seems fair. I would have to eyeball it to see exactly what would need freshening in order to give an accurate figure. Rust along the bottom of the door edges, under the panel behind the rear window and the base of the rear quarters as well as the trunk lid that you mentioned is common.

Thats exactly why I dont own a GN even though there is not one single car I'd rather have.

I would tell you to keep looking, unless you really want the car. The thing about buying a car is that you have to be a very patient person, especially if it is an important buy. Just don't settle for a car, make sure it is everything you want it to be, especially for the money. With a little time, you could probably find a car with 80K to 90K in good condition, with no rust for the same price. I've been looking for quite some time, and have seen prices vary from one extreme to the next. I also like to learn the history of the car, just to make sure I'm not buying something that will nickle and dime me to death.
If you do decide to buy it, I would offer him $7900. This is just my opinion. Good Luck with whatever you do.

Here is a link to a decent looking, low mileage GN, the current price will make you reconsider the current car you are looking at, but of course, i haven't looked at this car up close, so it could be a piece of junk, but it makes you think twice.
