Exhaust cutout legal question.

Say if you are driving down the road with a cutout and you have it open while going down the road. You get pulled over by a cop for a noise violation, but as you are being pulled over you close the cutout. Does this mean you can get of the ticket?

Noise violations usually, well atleast should entail a decibal meter. If the sound is being metered and the cutout is closed, how loud would it be? Not as loud as it just was! But, like with fort bragg, this might also be the case in sometowns...

Using a stereo for example..

If the noise is heard over 15 ft from the vehicle they can issue you a ticket for the noise ordinance. Some towns may have something to that effect, and if thats the case, and your running with the cut out open and he's a good distance away and still heres you, I would assume you might be getting a ticket.
