  • rear end question...

i recently got back from vacation and while i was gone i had a shop set my gears to spec since i had them replaced like 1,000 miles ago and they were whining i knew the whine wasn't going away since i drove it quite a bit but i was wondering how long in reality should it take a mechanic to take apart the rear assembly and reset the back lash?
i thought at first maybe 3 hours... well the shop charged me 7.5 hours i want to talk to a manager but he was outa town until the 10th i have the money i don't want pay but could it have taken them that long?

should be 3 to 4 hours tops. Especially if you aren't rebuilding the posi unit.

Just to adjust the footprint and backlash shouldn't take more than 3 hours if that.

7.5 hrs Someone is trying to pull one on you. Definitely fight it!
