  • 93 1LE parts

Ok, I remember talking with the Doc (dochidalgo) a while ago about 1LE parts for the 93s. I've tried to find some prices online and can't find anything. Does anyone know where to look or have the prices handy? I'm looking at at least the springs and tranny mount. Would there be any advantage to going with the 1LE sway bars and LCAs vs. the Spohn ones? I've already got the Chrome-Moly Spohn LCAs and Panhard. Thanks for the help guys.

Thanks for the help man. Any idea where I can get them, because GMPartsDirect and Pace Parts both say they don't have them. Also, which would be better, the Spohn LCAs and sway bars or the 1LEs? Thanks.

        1LE sway bars

        Steve:
The 1LE sway bars are 32 mm front and 21 mm rear with end links and the rest of the install stock hardware were purchased at very fair price from Dal Slabaugh (Van Devere GM dealer) www.vandevere.com
But the hardware was replaced for polyurethane bushings from Prothane (there is a install hardware kit)..a better waaaaay cornering difference!!!.
The best set up is 35 mm front and 25 mm rear (made by Eibach brand and SLP),but expensive, check the F-body sale & trade link ...

The Spohn is a very good suspension brand, my car has installed the LCA's, the relocation braquets, the panhard bar and the torque arm. Steve Spohn is always willing to reply your questions = great costumer service (the owner).
        Hope this helps you
        Take care

Thanks for the input Doc. So, for street and some strip then, the Spohn stuff should be just fine, right? No real noticeable difference between that and the 1LE stuff? Also, are Dal's prices about the same as GMPartsDirect? Thanks for the help Doc.

Dal or Jason's regular price ~$20 less than that.

Steve93Z, the old 1LE transmission mount has been long discontinued in it's original configuration. For a stock type mount, most are now using the LS1 mount. It is built more like the old 1LE mount was. You can find the p/n for the mount and required nut on my Part Numbers page.

                Steve:
Spohn products are well made, Spohn test them in his own LT1. There are 2 options: street and serious strip set ups. Mr. Goerge Baxter and Fred F. have street Spohn suspension set ups in their strip cars. Spohn and other manufacturers improve or at least make their stuff from 1LE or OEM specs. IMHO
GMPARTSDIRECT has good prices but the S&H fees are higher than other web autoparts vendors.
Dal Slabaugh has been my best OEM retailer since 1997, always reliable, fast and fair prices. He can get the tranny mount for you too.
                Take care

Thanks for the input guys. I'll stick with my plans for Spohn sway bars and torque arm. As for the intake elbow, I've already got a polished aluminum piece from Vortec...fits nicely inside the SLP CAI tube and my dad even opened up the end and smoothed it out to allow for better air flow . So, I think I'll stick with the 1LE springs and tranny mount. One last question while I have your ears...what would be a good set of non-adjustable springs? I'm looking at the Bilsteins but am open to suggestions. I would like something that is firm but still gives a good ride quality. Thanks guys.

You meant Bilstein shocks, right?. The SLP Bilsteins are softer than the HD Bilsteins, both "garanteeded for life". The HD Bilsteins are the way to go. My car has the SLP ones plus 1LE springs.....not bad but, I'd have chosen the HD ones for the best firmess ride quality. I choose the SLP because the same reason "I would like something that is firm but still gives a good ride quality".
I did not listen Ken's advice
Spohn's stuff is always a very good option...I'd said the best, IMHO

Yeah, I mean Bilstein shocks. Stupid brain doesn't work too well when I'm tired and just got off work lol Anyways, thanks for the input. Would the Bilstein HDs still give a decent ride down the road or would it be fairly rough? Thanks for the help Doc...I've at least got a direction I want to take the car down now for the rest of the suspension.

Well, I'm pleased with the SLP Bilsteins performance. My wife goes with me most of the time and I choose that kind of ride quality, firm but confortable yet.
But, in my personal opinion, our cars needs a firmness suspension. So, the HD are the best option.
