  • 1LE induction elbow and resonator delete plug??? What?

My last thread explained how my hood and RA air box were stolen and now I'm buying the SLP CAI unit along with the 1LE elbow, since I no longer have the original elbow that was on the car. But this elbow looks like it has a hole or something on the bottom of it that my old one didn't have? Anyone know what that is used for??? My TA is a 1993, so it there something I'm missing?
Also, I saw on a parts website that they sell a resonator delete plug for this elbow, I guess. Is that needed to run this elbow? Sorry if this sounds like a simple question but I've never encountered this until now Thanks for your help.

    Cheers,
    Steve

      no hole

The 1LE elbow doesn't have a hole. It is sealed up.

            ?????

It's not that it's just that you didn't answer my question and were busy trying to sell me a plug that I don't need??? I don't get it: if the hole needs no plug, why would I buy the aluminum plug then?
And as was mentioned before, the elbow isn't needed for a HP increase (I Mean who cares about a couple hP?). I need it because I have no elbow any longer; my hood was stolen along with the air cleaner. The stock elbow was long gone before the Ram Air was installed.

            Cheers.

OK guys, let's keep this from getting heated........

Stock regular LT1s have an elbow that contains the hole for an air silencer. It is used to quiet the air intake. WS6s do not have this provision, they don't even have an elbow. It's a straight shot in using flexible bellows. The 1LE factory racing cars had the elbow that doesn't have the hole for the air silencer. So you have a few choices...... go with the WS6 setup including ram air hood, go with the stock elbow and use the silencer(or plug the hole with the aftermarket plug) or use the 1LE as is as they have no hole for the silencer.

Relax man, I meant no offence. I realize it's an RK piece. not yours so that's understood. And "wake up"? Again, I don't understand what that was all about. I asked this question because I DID NOT KNOW. So what is there to wake up from? Regardless, I didn't realize that the resonator thing (or whatever it's called), wasn't open to the environment because my speed denstiy equipped 1993 did not come with that 1LE elbow on it and hense, I didn't know what that piece was. I just wasn't clear on why I would need to buy that resonator plug when as RangerBob pointed out, that it wasn't open to the environment and hense would not be necessary. I asked the same question on another board and Knightfire stated the same thing: in fact, he stated that he had cut the excess rubber off of the bottom. No mention of that plug. I was just confused is all. This conversation is over...

                  Cheers,

I would have thought that the above statement would have ended the conversation. Evidently not, so it will end now. The questions have been answered so no further discussion is needed. This thread is now locked.
