  • How easy (or hard?) is it to take off the Z28 badges?

I want to put 1969 Z28 emblems on my fenders, but would have to take off the originals. Are they just on with double sided sticky tape or something?

    Thanks!

Use 3M double sided tape that has the white foam in it with the green diamond back. If you don't they probably won't take the thermal expansion sitting in the sun and fall off. Been there done that.

use a hair dryer and heat up the old ones and gently pry them off. you can save them that way.

Another tip: you can use dental floss to get it started so you don't have to pry on the edge with anything that will harm the paint.

Start with a panel that has been sitting in the sun all day so that everything is softened from the heat. Then use the hairdryer and less glue will be stuck to the fender. It makes cleaning the residual glue a little easier.

and for any remaining glue on the fender, use GOO GONE to remove it. I used it when I removed the side mouldings from my Silverado and worked great plus its citrus based and won't harm the paint.

Or you can just use a little Zippo Lighter fluid, Takes glue off like a charm and because its so oily it wont harm paint either.

Ya know, I've got a set of 69 Z/28 badges and have been wanting to do the same for a while. I noticed when I got mine that they have a slight curvature to them. Will this be a problem installing them? Also, they don't stick on. What's the difficulty level looking like? lol
