  • How much horsepower can a stock LS1 block handle?

Hey im shane I have a 2000 Lightning and I would love to own a ws6 also one day. A buddy of mine has an 02 ws6 and another buddy has a 98. They are both red. Anyway they are both lightly modded I think they have a chip, filter and exhaust. Another friend has a 98 SS who is installing a 100 shot of nitrous as we speak. That will be crazy fast! He is running 13.0's now with just a mass air, and filter on drag radials.
Can't wait to see how well he does with the nitrous.

If either would Supercharge their car, they would be well in the 11's right? My question is how much horse can the LS1 handle?
What is a common supercharger application on the LS1's and how are your 1/4 mile et's after the blower? Thanks, Shane McKenna

My buddy has a 99 SS. Stock block.... only internal work is a cam. LS6 intake, long tubes, whisper lid and he ran 11.8@116 with a 6-speed. Did have a RAM clutch and 9-inch rear.

Added a 125-shot, NOS 5177 dry kit (the one that some people tell him "doesn't work"), and his best was 10.8@126... still with the M6. He just switched to a TH400.

Saw a Firehawk in the shop the other day. Was having a Turbo installed on it. Kinda unique....Not sure what else was done on the car but they had to remove the Long Tubes to get it to fit. Prediction was 550 HP including whatever else had been done already.

Didn't see it run, but I don't think this is unusual...except for the turbo that is.
