  • Convertible top replacement......

I need to get a new top for my 95 camaro, the stiches are busting loose real bad. I found a complete top new online for $300 which sounds reasonable.
My question is has anyone ever replaced their own top themselves and what is involved. I am very crafty and mechanicaly inclined so that would have to be a plus. Or should it be left to the pros for another $350 labor.
    just wondering.
    Thanx for all replies.

not having ever done anything like this before
aslong as there are no special tools ( i cant imagine there are) this kind of job sounds very very tedious and must be taken very very slow!

i would research the acctual process itself before i took this on lol

try a chiltons or a FSM or some other "how to" title

      top replacement

I had my top replaced on my 95 Z-28, I looked at doing it myself. But having the know how was a given, so had a top shop do it in Salt Lake City. A pro can do it in a day. So if you fill able and have the time do it, if not wanting the trouble I say let a pro do it. Those people make a living doing it. Wish GM would use better material on there tops. As my stiches starting breaking at 40k miles.
