  • Suggestions on cleaning factory wheels

91 Camaro RS Factory wheels. They are not cleaning up with "Super Clean" like the factory wheels on my old 88 RS wheels did. The 88's wheels looked new again. I use super clean to clean my tires & the wheels every time I wash it. It works terrific, as you all probably know. The 99's are dull, stained, and there seems to be a thin chipping clear coat substance on them. Is my best bet sanding them with a high grit? I bet one of my fellow f-Body owners have been through this already. Any suggestions?

I used some purple wheel cleaner on my rims and it made the clearcoat flake off in places. Mine are screwed up too! I think what I need to do is remove the tires from the rims, remove the rest of the clearcoat with chemicals. Polish the rims with metal polish, then get clearcoat sprayed on in a body shop.
