  • 96 T/A vs 95 Eclipse AWD Turbo

About a month ago I raced a friend with an Eclipse Awd Turbo at the drag strip.
I smoked him really bad but he had a very good launch do to the AWD.I ran a 13.91 at 99.9 mph's he ran a 15.11 at 84 mph. This past weekend I went up with him to test out his new mods on his car. I trailored his car with my truck so I didn't take my T/A. He ran a 13.7 at 99.2 mph. I was shocked. Now he wants to race me again so bad.Question is what would be the best mods to do my car that I know i'm going to eat him again? cause I can't let him beat me.I got little mods on mine but nothing to brag about like 160 therm,K&N filtercharger, air foil.I was thinking a NOS kit but unsure if I'll just blow my engine up. I only have 90000 km's on it( i live in Canada) any input will be greatly appreiciated.

Nitrous. Cheapest way to beat him. If it is done right, you aren't going to "blow up" your engine.

Those AWD DSMs can be beasts.

If you have the money do some heads & cam work.

What's the right way for the NOS set up? Do I need anything else other than the kit?

Ya never know what the DSM's have in them dude. Especially the AWD's.

The mods you listed wouldn't put even a slight fear in a lot of turbo DSM'ers eyes.

I used to be a DSM'er, and I will be again as soon as I move and get more space for another car. I love them!

My old warrior -- I miss him. To the untrained eye looked pretty stock except for the exhaust and CF hood.. But when I mashed the gas it was insane.

I agree with Loud Lt1 u do thod mods you will spank that little eclipse, but if u dont have money for thos mods try out some slicks when u head to the track, since the eclips has traction over you ur gonna need them but i recomend some gears, are you stick or auto?

But he's not talking about a lot of DSM's, he's talking about his friends which is currently 2/10ths quicker. He doesn't need much to get that back.

I know, sorry, I misread that.

Yeah, those mod's will probably do it.

Hope he doesn't do a turbo swap in the meantime!

Which reminds me....for a supercharger is it true that you can change just the pulley and you can make it give more boost. If so, how big do you go to get the psi i.e is it one inch for 1 psi or what ever it is?

I think with headers and exhaust you should be close. If you got a auto trans a higher stall converter, shift kit or tranny cooler would help out tons. If manual trans a shorter shifter and clutch would help. You could also try some weight saving like getting rid of spare and jack, etc...

Where in Canada do you live??

Another good place to add some parts is your suspension. LCA, PHR, relocation brackets, spring/shocks will help you gain traction to be faster. nice sticky tires out back cant hurt either.
