  • AC vacuum actuator problem

I have a 1994 Camaro 3.4V6, and just completed rebuilding the engine. Everything works fine except the AC/Heater air control no longer works (that's the dashboard control that changes where the air is directed). When the knob is turned, the familiar "whoosh" sound of the vacuum actuators can't be heard, so I assume I have a vacuum line disconnected. But I can't figure out where or how the AC/heater control gets vacuum. I assume the vacuum must come from the intake manifold, but can't find any loose vacuum lines. Does anyone know how the vacuum lines are routed to the AC/heater control on this model?

I think the V6 models are the same but I'm not exactly sure. On the f-bodies there is a check valve on the passenger side right next to where the a/c lines go thru the firewall into the evaporator. Could be a loose connection at that point. Could even just be a loose vacuum harness.

There is also a vacumm storage canister up by the horns. Check to see if the vacuum line coming from the check valve is still on there good.
