  • Cloudy Headlights

Does anyone else with a 98-02 Camaro have this? The plastic headlight lenses seem to be getting cloudy like some of the old cars I see on the road. They're clean on the outside though.

What causes this? is it the heat from the light bulb? or moisture? What can I use on it? Someone else mentioned a "plastic polish" but i don't even know if there is such a thing.

I really wish my lights were bright and clear...but new headlights are like $250 each!!!!!!!

This is the stuff to clear up the lights. http://www.stangparts.com/home.cfm?s...products/index
To be honest, I saw a guy who took 1500 grit sandpaper, wet sanded them then used some mag wheel polish on the looked brand new.

      Which part on that list?

Also, about sandpaper / polish, I assume you use this on the exterior of the light cover? the exterior seems to feel sort of smooth to the touch now though but if you get right up on it you can see all sorts of little tiny "cracks" that make it look cloudy from a distance.

Sorry about that. I hate when you can't copy and paste a link.

Speaking of headlights, I've noticed mine are starting to shake everytime I hit a bump on the road. I can tell by passing up road signs at night and seeing the beams shake, even on the back of other car's bumpers. I've tried tightning them but that doesn't seem to work.

My TA does the same thing. It is annoying! The stock bracket is flimsy from the factory.

So you think it's the bracket, Kev?

I know its the bracket, I built new aluminum ones for myself as the stock steel ones just had to much flex. My lights dont jiggle any more and as a added benifit they are 3 lb lighter per side now !

It looks like there are 2 metal clips on the top that hold the front lens part to the top part of the headlight assy - is the front lens part able to be removed? or replaced without replacing the entire unit?

I would really like to see some pics of these if you have some. I would like to do this to my TA and I would just like to get an idea of how you fabbed them.

Not to metion less stress on the motors as well!

Since this post is now two posts , I'm going to respond to both parts.

On the headlight cloudiness thing, there is a much cheaper option. Blue Magic, available at Walmart, any parts store, etc. It's acutally a metal polish, but it is safe to use on plastic as well. How do I know? Because we took a 92 Crown Vic that had the yellow looking lights from all the years of cop duty, and shined them up to where they looked brand new. Took about 5 minutes per light. I think a can is like $3 or $4.

Forgot to respond to the second part. I would like the "headlight J'Lo booty shake" repair instructions as well
