  • Steering Coupler despair....

Ok, so maybe I need more tools, but OMG!! those four little rivets could hold up a bridge!!! So far I have broken 1 titanium drill bit, dulled two air hammer chisels, ran through 3 1/2 batteries for the drill, and still have 2 rivets hangin on for dear life. This is crazy!! I bought the eliminator from Unbalanced Engineering and I thought that I was ahead of the game buying something cheaper and better than a replacement shaft.... So I thought. I have an appointment to call Cromer tomorrow and have one of these bad lads next day'd to me. I give up!!!!

The steering shaft beat me, I admit it. :-( Maybe I'm a lessor man for it, but I'm takin the next 4 hours (what it will probably take for those last 2 rivets) and put them back in the bank... 114.00 smackers ain't so bad after today...

Yes they are tough, but it is essential that you grind the correct end of the rivet. The rivet is a stepped design and not the same diameter throughout. The dimpled end is the correct one. Once the head is ground, the center of the rivet can be driven out the opposite side using a punch and hammer.
